What was the Rimowa Partnership?
The RTFKT Rimowa Cabin Luggage represented a unique partnership that merges luxury travel and gaming culture through innovative storytelling and design. This collaboration reimagined the classic Rimowa Cabin Luggage, transforming it into a statement piece for the modern gamer. Covered in bold pixel art, the Luggage is a tribute to the digital world, offering a luxury item tailored for those who thrive in virtual spaces. To enhance the experience, the Luggage also featured an AR filter for Snapchat, where users could unlock a playful, interactive sequence involving a workerbot character. This augmented reality feature brought the suitcase to life in an entirely new way, blurring the lines between physical craftsmanship and digital playfulness. Through this collaboration, RTFKT and Rimowa crafted an iconic piece that appeals to a new generation of travelers, blending luxury, technology, and gaming culture in a truly unique way.
What Was My Role?
For the RTFKT Rimowa Cabin Luggage project, I oversaw the creation of high-quality visuals, ensuring they were delivered on time and met photo-real standards that captured the essence of the real-life product. My team and I developed NFTs that aligned with Nike’s stringent quality expectations, bridging the gap between physical craftsmanship and digital collectibles.
I contributed to the modeling of both the luggage and the shoulder bag which was added to the ultra-rare green Workerbot (Also a physical freebee for holders of that NFT), ensuring a seamless representation of the real counterparts. In addition to assisting with lighting, rendering, and compositing, I worked with my team to create marketing materials that showcased the product and developed interactive AR filters to enhance the digital experience. I collaborated with outside vendors to brainstorm story elements for the introduction videos that unveiled the product, ensuring a compelling reveal. This comprehensive approach helped deliver a product that not only met RTFKT’s high standards but also provided an engaging, immersive experience for our clients, holders, and supporters.
