Xbox avatars are personalized, digital representations of players that allowed users to express themselves within the Xbox ecosystem. First introduced in 2008 on the Xbox 360, these 3D characters could be customized with a variety of options, from hairstyles and facial features to clothing and accessories, offering a fun and engaging way for players to build their virtual identity. Avatars appeared in profiles, leaderboards, and some games, making them an integral part of the Xbox social and gaming experience. In 2018, Microsoft introduced Xbox Avatar 2.0, which brought improved animations, a wider range of body types, and a focus on inclusivity, ensuring users could create avatars that truly represent themselves. Unity was used to develop these avatars, allowing for enhanced flexibility and creative design across a broad range of experiences.

From 2010 to 2018, I had the opportunity to work on Xbox avatars, including the development of the Xbox Avatar 2.0 system. I also played a key role in marketing campaigns for a wide array of games, films, and sports franchises. These included Batman, Borderlands, Call of Duty, Dark Souls, Dead Island, Dishonored, Evil Within, Gears of War, HALO, Hellboy, He-Man, Hercules, The Hobbit, Ice Age, Man of Steel, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, Ninja Turtles, Resident Evil, Robocop, South Park, Spongebob, Tekken, Titanfall, and Wolfenstein. Using Unity, we brought these iconic franchises into the avatar ecosystem, allowing players to access exclusive items and outfits that enhanced their digital identities and connected them to their favorite entertainment properties.
